amazingly, it's still up on the website. I clicked the link, fully expecting it to be gone and needing to resort to the wayback machine or something, but no, it's still there.

not to mention the front of the page prominently features "Unfit for Command," the Swift Liars book!
I just sent about ten newspapers an email describing this unfair, and illegal, activity by the Republican party, with links to their site and this one.
Maybe it will get some attention; it is certainly a clear endorsement of the SBVfT.
BTW, anytime I see or type SBVfT I think of "LSMFT" which sucks, cuz I've just begun quitting smoking (haven't had one all of August). Those dame Swift Liars!
It in hypocritical how they call the Not-So-Swifties "non-partisan" in the first paragraph then have a blatantly partisan fund raiser for them not less than half a page down. Makes me ill.
Fearful left.. Hmmmm. Anyone smell hypocricy here? Looks like Bush is so bad that he needs people to make shit up for him, get him into office, and kiss huge ass to the religious just so he can catch up with Kerry - and it's still not working! I think someone forgot to put GW back in his cage in 2000 (and as a result, he had $477 billion worth of fun) - we'll have to do it for them this year.

None of you understand the true issue do you? The issue is....are the Swift Boat folks being directed by the Bush camp? The answer is no.
Are some Republicans supporting the Swift Boat folks? Yes. There is nothing wrong with that.
Have any of you ever worked on political campaigns? I have and this is nothing unusual. I worked on a campaign for governor, among others, and it isn't unusual to have people who work or support various causes working/volunteering for the local party. Happens all the time. Something like this happened on one campaign I was working on. An anti abortion group, not endorsed by the candidate, was handing out flyers for him at a football game. Some people tried to raise a stink about it......in the end it went nowhere because the campaign was not involved with that group. Same thing here....you can have a local party supporting a cause that isn't directed by or related to the candidate in any way. The people trying to make this some sort of "smoking gun" to show that the Bush campaign is directing the Swift Boat group are REALLY grasping at straws.

The rules involving the new election rules don't effect state and local political parties the same as the national parties. Both political parties operate differently at the State and Local levels.
There is nothing illegal in the Collier County Republicans promoting any organization. Anyone figured out how close the ties of Moveon.org to the Democratic party are?
I fail to see a smoking gun here. So some Republicans support both Bush AND the SBVT? So what? I bet you can find some Democrats that support both KERRY AND MoveOn.org. Big whoop. This is a complete non-issue, a grasping at imaginary straws.
Point is this office was helping them get funding. I would definately say thats coordination. Besides that 2 people working on Bush's campaign have already resigned becuse of two timing. One was a lawyer. I for one would like to see the recipt for his services and who it was paid for by (if at all)
If, as Republicans insist, there's no coordination between the Swifties and Bush Cheney Inc., that wouldn't make these ads OK. Nor are these ads -- as Bush himself insists -- the mere equivalent of, for instance, the MoveOn ad that criticizes the Bush deficit.
It's not the format (527-funded) that's atrocious. It's the content, which is exceedingly misleading, sometimes outright false.
And the Republicans themselves have tacitly acknowedged this: Notice how lately the Republicans have quietly stopped defending -- and even talking about -- the first ad. Now, they're all about the 2nd, in which Kerry testified against the war 30 years ago.
I wish that more people would point out and notice how the Republican rhetoric is now both anti-Establishment and anti-soldier.
Anti-Establishment: The Navy gave Kerry his medals. You don't get those from sending in box-tops. Somebody higher than you has to _award_ them, that's why they're called awards. Are they saying the Navy is wrong? Are they second-guessing the military they claim to support? If Kerry's awards weren't 100% deserved, because they now say that medals given without proper vetting, then it follows that a lot of other soldiers' weren't deserved either. By their logic, guess we better take them all away and start over.
There's an assumption here behind this willingness to question the military's determinations about Kerry: That the military is not fair in its decisions about honoring soldiers. That it's as full as who-you-know and favors as any civilian institution. Hmm ... not treating all enlistees the same?? Wonder where the Bushies got the idea that the military could work that way?
(But if that's what they think -- that the military shows favoritism -- why don't they just say so? After all, fixing such a problem would be a great way to support our troops.)
The ads are Anti-Establishment (#2): By the time Kerry was back and testifying, politicians on both sides were beginning to want the hell out of Vietnam. To be anti-Vietnam War at that point was beginning to be a mainstream position. Though a Kerry critic himself, Nixon campaigned -- and won! -- on getting out of Vietnam. What're they saying about Nixon?
The ads and their defenders are anti-soldier: Vietnam war critics, Kerry included, have used examples of atrocities committed as evidence of the misguided plans and policies of our country's leaders, which unfairly put American soldiers in terrible positions. No serious war critic has brought up American atrocities just to say "Hey! Our soldiers just plain nuts! Psychotic! Woo-hoo! Is that an ear?" And Kerry -- one of these soldiers himself -- was certainly not saying that, either. Every serious war critic that discusses American atrocities means these examples to bring shame to our leaders for bringing us into a shitty situation in the first place and providing no support in the second. To suggest that those who are honest about American abuse of the Vietnamese (or now, Abu Gharaib prisoners) are anti-soldier is a divide-and-conquer strategy. The war critic seeks to blame the leaders, but cowardly leaders quickly throw a young GI in front of themselves -- a human shield, honestly -- to block the flack. "Hey, you wanna criticize the war? Criticize this kid from Boone, Iowa! Support our troops!" Yeah, you support them so much you're willing to let them take the heat for your poor judgment. Willing to let them suffer psychologically for having killed on your behalf. And, by leaders dodging responsibility for leadership decisions, willing to let them bear or deny guilt that shouldn't be their own.
Finally, Bush's "who, me?" is assinine. He's the fucking president, the Republican nominee, the person on whose behalf these ads are produced and aired. He's their man. We're supposed to believe that an Administration head who puts so much stock in his own machismo, who insists that he'll "protect us," can't call off his own dogs?
